Felt Cockerel

No wonder that the rooster is cock of the walk - after all, this was one of the earliest creations, dating back to 1892, the days when Margarete Steiff still made the toys with her own hands. Just like in the old days, it is again being stuffed with fine wood shavings and crafted from finest felt, which still comes from the famous "Vereingte Felzfabriken" factory in Giengen. Skilled fingers use a special and very time-consuming technique to create this magnificent rooster from 32 separate layers of felt graded in 12 cheerful colors. A beautiful ornament is attached to its tail, stitched by a special method of embroidery. It surveys its domain with keen glass bead eyes. As the legendary "Button in Ear" had not yet been introduced in 1892, this rooster is given the first official button with an elephant logo.
